Grace Gear is one of several Englishwoman inside the top 100 of the World Rankings, and recently broke inside the top 70 for the first time in her career.

Gear made her debut on Tour in 2017, and accrued four semi-final appearances and a runners-up finish in her first two years. She made the last four of the Val de Marne in her debut year, before reaching the same stage of the Denton Associates Norther Open, Karakal Bangor Classic and the Remeo Ladies Open in 2018.

The Englishwoman made it to the final of the Val de Marne that year as well, losing out to Melissa Alves in straight games. She had another final appearance a year later, making it to the final of the Capra Baerum Open.

After only appearing twice on Tour in 2020, Gear started 2021 well, making the semis of the AS Insurance Services Ltd Pontefract Ladies Challenger, before then reaching the final of both the Sumner Malik Memorial and the Bexley Open.

A quarter-final appearance at the Berkhamsted Linksap Open started a run which went through to the end of 2021, in which the young Englishwoman made it into at least the last eight of every single tournament, ten in total, with Gear also securing her first two wins in that time.

Gear broke into the winner’s circle at the Northern Joe Cup, beating Georgia Adderley in the final. She then secured her first Challenger 10 level title in her final appearance of 2021, beating Adderley once again, this time in the final of the Sportwerk Women’s Open. The Englishwoman also finished runner-up at the Springfield Scottish Squash Open and the Commercial Water Solutions Grange Challenger. Thanks to that run of form, Gear started 2022 inside the top 70 for the first time.
