Another of the young Egyptian force coming through on the PSA World Tour, Farida Mohamed has already spent time inside the top 16 in the World Rankings.

In the first main draw she reached on the Tour, Mohamed took victory. She won the Growthpoint S.A. Open, beating Menna Nasser in the final.

The Egyptian then won three times over the course of the 2018-2019 campaign, tasting victory at the DHA Cup International Squash Championship, Pakistan International Women’s Squash Tournament and Grand Sport Armenian W5 Challenger III.

She reached the final of the JC Women’s Open, and then to at least the last eight of the Serena Huawei Pakistan International Squash Tournament and the Cleveland Classic. Her breakout performance came at the CIB Black Ball Women’s Squash Open in March 2020, as she knocked out New Zealand No.2 Joelle King en route to the third round. Mohamed then reached the same stage of the CIB Egyptian Open in her first event after the tour’s suspension.

Her good form on home soil continued into the start of 2021, as once again she reached the third round of a Platinum event at the Black Ball Sporting Club, and that was followed later in the year by her first appearance in the quarters of a major, which came in front of the Pyramids at the CIB Egyptian Open. Mohamed ended the year with another last eight appearance, this time at the CIB Squash Open Black Ball, to move into the top 25 in the World Rankings for the start of 2022.

That rise up the rankings continued through the early part of 2022, thanks to a third round finish at the Allam British Open, followed by a semi-final result at the Bronze level Carol Weymuller Open. She then ended the campaign with her biggest ever victory on Tour, as she defeated Belgium’s Tinne Gilis in the final of the RMCLUB Women’s Open Presented by Expression Networks, moving inside the world’s top 16 as a result.

She started her 2022-2023 season with a semi-final appearance at the CIB Zed Squash Open, before making it to a first Gold level final, where she lost out to home favourite Amanda Sobhy at the Oracle NetSuite Open. Mohamed did claim more silverware at the end of the calendar year, as she secured the Challenger 20 level Rhode Island Open crown.

Mohamed started 2023 well, with a semi-final appearance at the Squash on Fire Open. She then reached two finals in quick succession, finishing runner-up at the St James Women’s 20K Classic and the Women’s Kinetic Orange Ball Challenger before finishing the season with last 16 results at both the Manchester Open and the El Gouna International.
