Farhan Mehboob is the latest Pakistani to rise through the ranks - raising his country's hopes that this new generation of players, which includes his cousin Aamir Atlas Khan, can rekindle the successes achieved by the pair's legendary uncle Jansher Khan and a long line of Pakistani greats before him.

Coached by his father Mehboob Khan, Jansher Khan's brother-in-law, Farhan first came to international attention when he won the British Junior U15 Open title in January 2002. A little more than a year later, the left-hander clinched the Asian Junior U19 Championship crown, when just 14 years old!

Four years later, Farhan reclaimed the Asian Junior title, and later in 2007 - while still a junior - he reached his first PSA Tour final, in Karachi. Seeded seven, Farhan made his breakthrough in the quarter-finals of the CNS International where be beat third-seeded younger cousin Aamir Atlas Khan for the first time. After despatching experience compatriot Mansoor Zaman, the No2 seed in the semis, Farhan bravely bowed out to Egyptian favourite Karim Darwish in the final.

Just outside the world Top 50 at the beginning of 2008, Farhan enjoyed a meteoric rise over the year - which was kicked off in May when he clinched his first Tour title at the President PSF International in Abbottabad.

Farhan doubled his Tour title count six months later when - again on home soil - he took the CNS International crown in Karachi, beating Aamir 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-6, 11-7 in the final. The 20-year-old celebrated his fifth appearance in a PSA final in November in his country's most prestigious event, the Pakistan Open - but this time went down in four games to cousin Aamir.

By the end of 2008, Farhan had soared 32 places in the PSA world rankings to finish the year in the top 20 for the first time. And after a 2009 campaign which included quarter-final berths in the KL Open and the Hurghada International in Egypt, Farhan recorded a career-high world No16 ranking in May.

Mehboob continued his strong form in 2010 as he lifted the Jena Real Estate Squash Champs after beating Abdullah Al Muzayen over four games.

The Pakistani then backed this up with a final appearance at the PSF CAA Pakistan International Squash Circuit in 2010 but was unable to find a victory in his home nation as he lost out to fellow countryman Aamir Atlas Khan. 2011 brought another title for Mehboob when he lifted the CAS International title after beating Mansoor Zaman in the final.

Mehboob was unable to discover form in 2012 and consequently saw him slip out of the world’s top 100 for the first time since 2006, however he did break back into the top 100 in 2014.

Mehboob overcame his young brother, Waqar in the final of the 4th FMC International Men’s Squash Championship in 2016 to lift a sixth PSA World Tour title of his career. Later on in the year, he also went onto lift the PSA M25 title at the Serena Hotels CAS International Squash Championship beating Farhan Zaman.

The next year, Mehboob continued his title winning exploits when he stormed to victory in the final of the President Gold Cup International Squash Tournament in 2017, defeating Leo Au to lift his eighth PSA World Tour title. Mehboob won twice more in 2018, taking the PSF Pakistan Squash Circuit and the SNGPL Pakistan International Squash Circuit titles, before a string of runners-up finishes came throughout 2019.
