Cristina Gomez is Spain’s No.1 female player, and has proven to be a consistent performer since her debut on Tour in 2017.

The Spaniard made at least the last eight in three of her first four events on the Tour, including reaching the semi-finals of the Sekisui Open. She then had a run of six straight events in 2018 where she made the last eight or better.

That run started at the TRAC Oil & Gas North of Scotland Open, where she made the semis. She also made the last four of the Christchurch Vets Surgery Ipswich Open, along with quarter-final results at the Denton Associates Northern Open, Sekisui Open, Open International des Volcans and the Karakal Bangor Classic.

Gomez continued her good form into the early part of 2019, with a semi-final appearance at the Springfield Scottish Squash Open. Later that year, she also made it into the last four of the Val de Marne and the Capra Baerum Open.

She only featured twice on Tour in 2020, making the last 16 of both the Edinburgh Sports Club Open and the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week, both before the Tour was forced to take a six-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On her return to the Tour, Gomez came out firing, reaching the semis of the Open des Bretzels, before winning her two tour events as a professional. She claimed her maiden victory at the Codep94 Val de Marne International, before then winning the Odense Open, which was a qualifier for the PSA World Championships 2020-2021, where she went on to make her debut in the sport’s premiere event in Chicago.

The Spaniard went on to reach the semi-finals of both the Bremer Schlussel and Czech Open later that year, along with making it into the final of the Capra Baerum Open. At the start of 2022, Gomez was in her highest career ranking to date of World No.53.
