New Zealander Evan Williams downed three higher-seeded players to claim his second PSA World Tour title of the month when he beat Taiwan’s James Huang in the final of the South Australian Open, the PSA Challenger 5 squash event at Next Generation Health & Racquet Club in Adelaide.

The fifth seed from Wellington made his significant breakthrough in the semi-finals with a straight games dismissal of Dane Sharp, the top seed from Canada.

It was a joyous return to the event for Huang, the sole squash professional from Chinese Taipei who became his country’s first PSA Tour event finalist two years ago at the South Australian Open!

The No.2 seed from Taipei City coasted into the third final of his career after despatching local hope Joshua Larkin, the third seed from Canberra, in the other semi.

But it was not to be ‘third time lucky’ for Huang as 25-year-old Williams stormed through to an 11-7, 11-9, 12-10 triumph in 47 minutes earn his place on the winner’s podium for the second time in 14 days.
