Weekend RoundUp: Scottish Double at Fitzherbert Rowe Lawyers NZ International Classic

It was a Scottish double as the Fitzherbert Rowe Lawyers New Zealand International Classic came to an end over the weekend with Greg Lobban and Lisa Aitken both claiming the Men and Women’s titles respectively.

In the Men’s final World No.76 Lobban faced India’s World No.79 Mahesh Mangaonkar in a high intensity match. Scotland’s Lobban – who did not drop a game throughout the entire tournament – claimed the first match 11-8, before going onto secure the next two to win 3-0 and secure back-to-back titles after his win at the Vitesse Stortford Classic last month and his second PSA World Tour title since returning from injury.

The Women’s final saw World No.105 Aitken face New Zealand’s World No.104 Emma Millar with Scotland’s Aitken claiming the first game before Millar brought things level in the second with an 11-4 win. However, Aitken then continued to dominate the next two games to see out victory and claim her maiden PSA World Tour title.
