Weekend RoundUp: Parker Takes West of Ireland Open Title

England’s World No.56 George Parker claimed the Garavan’s West of Ireland Open title over the weekend as a handful of PSA World Tour tournaments came to an end.

Top seed Parker – who now has three PSA titles in 2018 – defeated number seven seed and compatriot Charlie Lee in the final by an 11-9, 11-5, 3-11, 11-6 scoreline and pick up his seventh PSA World Tour title.

Elsewhere, at the Assore Balwin Gauteng Open, South Africans Jean-Pierre Brits and Alexandra Fuller, claimed the men’s and women’s titles, respectively.

Qualifier and World No.208 Brits defeated top seed Czech Republic’s Martin Svec in the final, after coming from a game down to win 7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 in 64 minutes to claim his maiden PSA World Tour title.

Meanwhile, top seed Fuller, overcame compatriot and number two seed Milnay Louw in the final of the women’s event to win in straight-games in under half an hour and claim her second title of 2018 after winning the Bermuda Open.

At the Guatemala 5k Open it was home talent and World No.185 Josue Enriquez who claimed victory after defeat top seed Mexico’s Leonel Cardenas 3-1 in the final.

Number three seed Enriquez was competing in his first ever PSA World Tour title as he lifted his maiden crown on the Tour.

Finally, at the Madison Open, it was Indian Qualifier Velavan Senthilkumar who stunned the field as he took out a number of top seeds en route to the final before beating South Africa’s Tristan Eysele 7-11, 13-11, 12-4, 11-4 in the final.

For the World No.255 it also marks his first ever title win on the PSA World Tour.
