Weekend RoundUp: Hedrick Secures Second Successive Title at Tarra Kia Bega Open

Australia’s World No.64 Rex Hedrick secured his second successive PSA title after he defeated compatriot and World No.70 Joshua Larkin in the final of the Tarra Kia Bega Open as a handful of PSA Challenger Tour events came to an end over the weekend.

Hedrick – who recently won the Australian Open – did not drop a single game throughout the tournament en route to the final as he dispatched Larkin 3-1 to lift the title by an 11-5, 7-11, 11-4, 11-8 in 72 minutes to claim his 13th PSA title.

Meanwhile at the Growthpoint SA Open, number two seed Mohamed ElSherbini maintained his 100{d0587469e8933ea5fce14b556fa40d44c2813bf7740605b59885b5a8c24d5885} record in finals as he claimed his seventh PSA title, defeating compatriot Egypt’s Mazen Gamal in the final by a 7-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-8 margin.

In the women’s final, it was another all-Egyptian affair as Farida Mohamed and Menna Nasser went head-to-head with the former coming out on top as World No.196 Mohamed secured a straight-games victory over her compatriot to win her maiden PSA title at the age of 16-years-old.

At the Squash Melbourne Open, France’s World No.330 Christophe Andre caused an upset as he defeated New Zealand’s top seed Evan Williams in straight-games to lift his 6th PSA title and his first since 2016.

In the women’s final, Hong Kong’s World No.56 Vanessa Chu defeated an in form Christine Nunn, who has secured five titles in her last six tournaments, however, she was unable to deter an impressive Chu who came from a game down to win 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5 in 49 minutes. The win marks Chu’s sixth PSA title.
