Weekend RoundUp: ElSherbini & Sedky Claim Titles

Egypt’s World No.70 Mohamed ElSherbini and United States World No.60 Reeham Sedky claimed the Serena Hotel Huawei International Squash Tournament and Richmond Open titles over the weekend on the PSA Challenger Tour.

For Elsherbini this marks his third title in the last four tournaments he has played after he defeated Pakistan’s number four seed Farhan Mehboob in the final.

The Egyptian was forced to come from 2-1 down against the World No.73 to secure an 11-5, 5-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8 victory in 51 minutes and take his PSA title tally up to 10.

Meanwhile, Sedky retained her title after overcoming compatriot and number one seed Olivia Fiechter to prevail in the final of the Richmond Open.

The American had enjoyed wins over Scotland’s Elspeth Young and France’s Marie Stephan, before receiving a walkover in the semi-finals. Sedky then powered to an 11-7, 11-6, 11-4 victory over her compatriot to ensure she did not drop a single game throughout the tournament.

The win marks her second successive title after victory at the Queen City Open last month.
