Amanda Sobhy v Hania El Hammamy

U.S No.1 Amanda Sobhy earned her place in the final after defeating World No.1 Nour El Sherbini in just 30 minutes in their last four encounter.

Sobhy also reached the final in the Hong Kong Open back in 2016 where she also defeated El Sherbini in the semi final before being defeated by then-No.5 seed Nouran Gohar.

The American has reached at least the semi finals in every contest so far this season and this is the No.5 seed’s second final, after losing out to Egypt’s Nour El Tayeb.

Defending champion and No.2 seed Hania El Hammamy has seen success this season, winning the Qatar Classic in a dramatic five-game final against the World No.1 in September.

Since then, the Egyptian has reached finals in the U.S. Open as well as the Grasshopper Cup, losing to El Sherbini on both occasions.

The 23-year-old won the Hong Kong Open in 2022, beating out fellow Egyptian El Sherbini in a thrilling five-game affair.

El Hammamy holds twice as many wins over her American opposition, winning eight of the 12 meetings. The finalist last met in the U.S. Open semi final, where the Egyptian claimed victory in four games.

Ali Farag v Paul Coll

World No.1 Ali Farag makes his fifth final appearance of the season, claiming titles on four of the occasions including two Platinum events in the Paris Squash and the Qatar Classic.

The Egyptian has yet to drop a game in the whole tournament, dispatching the likes of Mazen Hesham and Mostafa Asal in his quarter final and semi final respectively.

Despite reaching two finals in Hong Kong, Farag is yet to win a tournament there, losing out to Mohamed ElShorbagy both in 2017 and 2018.

Farag’s only loss in a final so far this season came at the hands of his upcoming opponent, Paul Coll.

The New Zealander beat the World No.1 in the U.S. Open final in a five-game battle. The title marks Coll’s only silverware of the season so far.

On his route to the final, Coll has defeated World No.2 Diego Elias in the quarter final, before beating four-time Hong Kong Open champion Mohamed ElShorbagy in his semi final.

The two finalists have met on two occasions this season, most recently in the U.S. Open final, and also in the Paris Squash semi final in which Farag claimed victory, also going the full five games.

The Egyptian dominates the pair’s head-to-head record, winning on 19 of the 26 occasions, although the World No.4 has won on five of their nine meetings in finals.
