Solitary Upset in Shepparton International Qualifying

Seven of the top eight seeded players progressed from the qualifying round of the Greater Shepparton City Council International, PSA M5 tournament with Khaled Zahran’s victory over Majeed Hussain proving to the main surprise of the day.

World No.439 Zahran controlled the encounter in a surprisingly one-sided affair and ran out with a comfortable 11-7, 11-7, 11-2 rout.

England’s Lewis Doughty will be the Egyptian’s opponent in the main draw’s opening round with the 24-year-old sure to prove a tricky opponent.

Jong Myoung Park will join them in the main draw after the Korean shot past compatriot Han Seung Cheol in four games to set up a clash with Addeen Idrakie who is eyeing up a second successive PSA World Tour title after last month’s triumph at the Malaysian Tour Squash V.

Meanwhile, Omar Behgat dispatched Mark Mitto to ensure that he also progresses to the next round. He will go up against Alex Eustace there with the Australian keen to impress on home soil.

Jaejin Yoo and Mithran Selvaratnam both defeated Mike Corren and Daehoon Jeong in their respective clashes to confirm their participation in the main draw action. Yoo will face Connor Sheen while meets Steven Liu for a place in round two.
