Qualifying Off to a Start in Malaysia

The first qualifying round of the Malaysian Tour Squash VII, PSA M5 event saw all eight seeded players sail through to the final round of qualifying in Pahang.

Pakistan’s Ahsan Ayaz was the number one qualifying seed and he made no mistake in his encounter with Ryan Pasqual as he romped to a straightforward 3-0 win over the Malaysian.

The World No.215 will meet another Malaysian, Bryan Lim Tze Kang, in the next round after the number five seed saw off compatriot Darren Rahul in four games.

Gurshan Singh is also through to the final qualifying round after defeating Andrew Lee in a dramatic five game clash. A tense opening game tie-break set the stall for what was a high-octane encounter which saw Singh claim a narrow victory with a 15-13, 11-13, 11-4, 7-11, 11-4 triumph. Henry Leung awaits Singh in the next round thanks to his success against Adam Agan Aziz.

Elsewhere, Ong Sai Hung moved through to the next round after a straight games win over Suddesh Kannah and goes on to meet Raja Adam who dispatched Daniel Nurhaqiam by a similar scoreline.

Tsun Hei Yuen and Ahmed Mohamed will face off in the other fixture with Yuen beating Mohd Hafiz Zhafri and Mohamed benefitting from a walkover.
