Qualification Kicks Off in Charlottesville

All eight seeded players made it through to the final qualifying round of the Charlottesville Open, PSA M35 event with a number of assured performances satisfying the gathered spectators.

Todd Harrity progresses after a comfortable straight games victory over Stephen O’Dwyer. The number two seed was in control throughout the encounter and dropped just a handful of points as he romped to an 11-3, 11-1, 11-5 victory.

He will meet Amaad Fareed in the next round after the Pakistani number eight seed dispatched Maxwell Novick.

Mexico’s Eric Galvez secured his place in the final qualifying round after easing past Reuben Phillips in straight games, earning an 11-6, 11-5, 11-6 triumph in the process. He will play compatriot Arturo Salazar next after the fifth seed swept past Patrick Chifunda.

Elsewhere, an all-Canadian matchup awaits with Shahier Razik and Michael McCue set to meet each other after respective victories against Ben Coates and Mason Blake.

Christopher Gordon and Jamaica’s Lewis Walters make up the other final qualifying round tie. Top seed Gordon received a bye in the opening round while World No.120 Walters eliminated James Bamber in three.
