PSA STARS ATTEND POST-SQUASH CAREER DAY AT CANARY WHARF

15 March 2018

Following on from the success of the launch of the Squash University in Chicago, PSA World Tour players had the opportunity to put their questions forward to some of the leading names in business at the PSA Foundation’s Post-Squash Career Day, staged at Canary Wharf, London.

Speakers from across business, including commercial media lawyer Simon Goldberg, Emilia Group’s Faye Andrews, Rackets Cubed Founder Michael Hill and Seb Carmichael-Brown from Hashtag United were all on hand to offer their advice and tips to players on how to successfully transition from the professional circuit to a more traditional career path once their playing days are over.

A range of topics were covered by the speakers including financial planning, social media, how to build your profile and preparing for a life after squash.

One of the speakers also included England’s World No.17 Daryl Selby, who shared how attending the Post-Squash Career Day last year encouraged him to set up his own sports management and events agency – Dynamic7.

“This very event last year is what inspired me to start my own company and it’s now been a year since I registered it and it’s going well,” said Selby.

“The people that I have met here have actually helped in the whole set up process which wouldn’t have happened without these types of events that the PSA Foundation is doing.

“Hopefully more of the younger players will understand the value of this early on in their careers.”

A host of PSA stars were in attendance and England’s World No.50 Nathan Lake commented on how he found the day beneficial.

“It’s great that the PSA Foundation is doing these events all over the world,” said the 25-year-old.

“I have attended in Hong Kong, Chicago and now London, and every time I take away something new. It really encourages me to think about my career and connecting with people that can guide me in my decision.”

France’s World No.29 Gregoire Marche added: “I am grateful that the PSAF is doing this for us while we are still playing. It really helps us in our current careers and our future.”
