PSA Mourns the Passing of Enzo Corigliano

It is with great sadness that the PSA has learned of the passing of former PSA player Enzo Corigliano.

Born in New Caledonia, France, Enzo rose as high as No.136 in the PSA World Rankings and reached the final of the City of Greater Bendigo International in July, 2018.

His final PSA appearance came at the 2019 edition of the same tournament, where he reached the quarter-finals.

In total, Enzo played 94 PSA Tour matches, winning 45 of them.

Enzo was also a successful junior player, captaining the French U15 and U17 National Teams and representing his country at the European Junior Team Championships.

At the time of his passing, Enzo was a student at Saint-Lawrence University in New York where he was a Communications and French major, while he was also a member of the men’s squash team.

Enzo was just 23 and the PSA would like to extend its deepest sympathies to Enzo’s parents – Jennifer and Gregory – as well as the rest of his family, friends, classmates, teammates and fellow French players at this difficult time.

Renan Lavigne, French National Coach, said: “The devastating, heartbreaking and unbelievably sad news came in early this morning. Enzo was such a charming and talented boy.

“The French squash family and community are in complete shock today. I have no words to express our sadness and incredulity. On behalf of all the French players (some of them battling hard in Egypt and Italy today), his teammates and coaches, we send our love and deepest condolences to his family, to Jennifer and Grégory, his parents, his sister and brother, and all his friends around the world. He had so many.”

Gregoire Marche, a good friend of Enzo’s, had this to say following his first round match today against Nathan Lake at the CIB Black Ball Open.

“Emotionally, today was very difficult as I heard as I was stepping on the shuttle to come here that one of our French former juniors, Enzo Corrigliano, who was studying in the States, passed away. He was 23 and that affected us terribly.

“We were very good friends, all my thoughts [go out] to the family and to his friends. We are all devastated and today, when things were not going well for me, I thought about him and that put me right back on track.”
