Plain Sailing for Seeds in Nantes Qualifying

The final qualifying round of the Open International de Squash de Nantes, PSA M10 event drew to a close with the top four seeded players all making it through to the main draw.

Jan van den Herrewegen came up against England’s Joe Green and the World No.136 produced a masterful display to dispatch his opponent with a 11-3, 11-7, 11-5 triumph.

France’s Geoffrey Demont lies in wait for van den Herrewegen in the next round with the two-time PSA World Tour title winner likely to prove a difficult competitor.

Robert Downer secured his main draw berth with a confident victory over Auguste Dussourd in straight games. The Portsmouth-born 23-year-old remained composed throughout the encounter to scythe through his opponent and progress to the next round where he will face Khawaja Adil Maqbool.

Edmon Lopez Moller will also participate in the main draw action after defeating compatriot Dani Pascual. The Spaniards traded a number of lengthy blows but it was the former who raised his game sufficiently to move into the next round with a 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Iker Pajares Bernabeu survived a five game affair with Johan Bouquet to book his place in the first round of the main draw. After going two games to the good, Bernabeu let his opponent back into it but recovered well to take the fifth game and secure the win.
