Paris Squash Finals: Preview & How to Watch Live

2 September 2023

We’ve reached finals day in the first Platinum event of the 2023-24 PSA World Tour season – the Paris Squash – today in France as the four players will not only be competing for the event titles, but the World No.1 spots as well.

Play will start at 20:00 (GMT+2) at Palais de Tokyo and will be shown live on SQUASHTV.

The top two seeds in both draws have progressed through to the finals in the opening Platinum event of the new season as Nouran Gohar will face Nour El Sherbini whilst Ali Farag will play Diego Elias. Both World No.2s El Sherbini and Elias will have extra incentive as they can both return to the summit of the world rankings with wins tonight.

Order of play:

Gohar v El Sherbini

For the 15th time in their careers, Egyptian duo Nouran Gohar and Nour El Sherbini will compete for an event title as they line up again to claim the Paris Squash 2023, the first Platinum event of the new season. Both players have come into the final relatively unscathed, both not dropping a game on route to the final.

Despite El Sherbini having the upper hand in the head-to-head standings, El Sherbini can be the less consistent of the two but can ‘The Terminator’ repeat the performance from last season’s U.S Open, her last win over the World Champion.

Farag v Elias

The men’s final will also be a straight shoot out for the World No.1 spot with Ali Farag & Diego Elias looking to capture the first Platinum title of the new season.

The players endured contrasting semi-finals yesterday with Farag overcoming World No.5 Paul Coll in a brutal 96-minute clash. Whereas Elias was off court in just over half a hour after England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy sustained an injury which prevented him from featuring in any rallies in the second and third games after Elias took a crucial first.

Farag holds a considerable advantage in the head-to-head record between the two, with Elias only able to record three wins in 21 attempts. ‘The Puma’ will be hoping that the match with Coll has taken its toll on Farag’s usually springy movement to capitalise and claim both the event and world No.1 titles.
