Orfi Climbs To Career-High Spot In Latest Women’s World Rankings

Egyptian 16-year-old Amina Orfi has risen to a career-high ranking of World No.13 in the latest PSA Women’s World Rankings after her run to the quarter-finals of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions.

Fellow teenager Fayrouz Aboelkheir has also reached a career-high position in the rankings after reaching her maiden Platinum quarter-final in New York last week, climbing seven spots to World No.28.

Amina Orfi

Previous Ranking: No.16

Orfi continued her impressive recent form at the Platinum-level J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, recording wins over Nadine Shahin and World No.8 Tinne Gilis on her way to the last eight. The teenager eventually bowed out to compatriot Rowan Elaraby after a thrilling four-game encounter that lasted 89 minutes.

The Egyptian has risen three places in the updated rankings, climbing above Sabrina Sobhy, Sivasangari Subramaniam and Sarah-Jane Perry to reach the World No.13 berth.

Previous Ranking: No.10

Weaver has risen one place in the most recent standings, replacing New Zealand’s Joelle King as the World No.9.

The American No.2 reached the last eight of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions thanks to victories over Farida Mohamed and Lucy Beecroft before being defeated by World No.1 Nour El Sherbini.


Satomi Watanabe

Previous Ranking: No.22

Watanabe has risen back into the world’s top 20 following the conclusion of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, climbing above French No.1 Melissa Alves and Hong Kong No.1 Tomato Ho.

The Japan No.1, who has a career-high rank of World No.16, was defeated by World No.2 Hania El Hammamy in four games in the last sixteen of the Platinum event last week.

Aboelkheir enjoyed her finest run at a Platinum event in New York, reaching the quarter-finals for the very first time.

Victories over Anna Serme, Hana Ramadan, and Salma Hany have helped her rise seven places in the latest world rankings. The 17-year-old has climbed above the likes of Nadine Shahin, Zeina Mickawy and Lucy Beecroft to reach this career-high position.
