Denmark’s Kristian Frost Olesen justified his top billing in the Barwa Bank PSA Challenger in Doha when he won the PSA World Tour Challenger 5 title at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in the Qatar capital.
The 23-year-old from Odense reached the final after dismissing unseeded Welshman David Haley in straight games in the semi-finals.
Olesen’s final opponent was Bader Al Hussaini, the No3 seed from Kuwait who ended the run of fellow countryman Fallah Mohammed in the other semi – Mohammed having earlier unseated second-seeded Englishman Chris Truswell.
But favourite Olesen was too strong for the 28-year-old Kuwaiti in the final, beating Al Hussaini 11-6, 11-7, 11-4 in just 35 minutes.
The triumph marks the Dane’s third successive PSA Tour title since December – and the fourth of Olesen’s career.
