Mohamed ElShorbagy Returns To World No.3 Whilst Tesni Evans Is On The Move In Latest Rankings

Following the completion of the New Zealand Open England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy has returned to World No.3 after his win over Paul Coll in the final. Whilst in the women’s rankings, New Zealand Open runner-up Tesni Evans has risen to World No.13, her highest ranking since January this year.

Wales’ Evans has moved ahead of Belgium’s Nele Gilis, who she beat in the Barfoot & Thompson New Zealand Open semi-final in a close 3-1 encounter.

Event wildcard Kaitlyn Watts reached round two last week and has been rewarded with a 12 place increase as she ow sits at No.76 in the world. There is also a 13 place increase for Egypt’s Malik Khafagy who also reached round two in the New Zealand event.

The World No.1 spot still belongs to U.S. Open Champion Nouran Gohar as she makes it 50 weeks at the summit of the world rankings.

Women’s top 20

England’s Mohamed El Shorbagy is back to World No.3 after his win in Tauranga. The win takes the former World Champion’s tally to three for the season after claiming the QTerminals Qatar Classic and the Oracle NetSuite Open. ElShorbagy moves back ahead of Egypt’s Mostafa Asal who slips down to World No.4 despite his win at the Grasshopper Cup last month.

Qatar’s Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi appearance in the semi-finals of the Robertson lodges New Zealand Open has taken him to his highest world ranking of World No.22. The Qatari lost out to No.1 seed Paul Coll in Tauranga but showcased amazing squash to reach the final four and over achieve his seeding.

Swiss duo Dimitri Steinmann and Nicolas Mueller have also risen in this week’s rankings. Steinmann has broken the top 30 for the first time as he moves four places from 31 – 27. Whereas Mueller is back at his highest ranking of World No.14 due to slips from Gregoire Marche and Saurav Ghosal.
