Mohamed ElShorbagy breaks record for most consecutive weeks inside top 10 in latest PSA world rankings

9 October 2023

England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy has broken the record for the most consecutive weeks spent inside the top 10 today as he celebrates his 670th consecutive week as a top 10 player this week. This week’s rankings takes him one week ahead of French legend and ElShorbagy’s current coach Gregory Gaultier to lead the illustrious group.

The Englishman has spent nearly a decade inside the world’s top five, spending 51 weeks as World No.1, and needs just one more win on the PSA tour to reach 50 titles.

Elsewhere in this weeks rankings, Scotland’s Greg Lobban has moved back inside the top 20 after falling out last week. He’s back to his best ranking of World No.19 as Aly Abou Eleinen drops two places.

In the women’s rankings, Egypt’s Nour El Tayeb has returned to World No.5 after win at the South Western Open. She’s back in the top 5 for the first time since 21 August as she chases down the top four.

Japan’s Satomi Watanabe is up to her highest ranking as she now sits at World No.17. Watanabe burst into the top 20 last season and has now gone one better than her previous best of World No.18, despite playing just one event so far this season.

Canada’s Hollie Naughton has dropped outside the top 20 for the first time since October 2020 as she slips to World No.23. That has allowed France’s Melissa Alves to return to the top 20 for the first time since May and join the other five Europeans inside the top 20.

The 2023 U.S Open is taking place currently, with third round action available to watch live on SQUASHTV today at 17:00 in Philadelphia (GMT-4), with opportunities for all players to improve their rankings next week.
