Meguid Marks 100th Event With Victory In Islamabad

Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid collected the 13th title of his PSA World Tour career, in what was the 100th tournament of his career to date, as he stormed to the silverware at the COAS International, PSA M25, to lift the trophy without dropping a single game en route.

Having suffered disappointing first round defeats on his last two outings, at the Hong Kong Open and Al Ahram Squash Open NewGiza, the powerful Egyptian returned to form as he saw off Chi Him Wong, Faraz Muhammad, Tayyab Aslam and Ivan Yuen in commanding fashion to take the spoils.

Yuen, the talented Malaysian youngster, had produced two masterclass performances to reach the title decider, first stunning second seeded Karim Ali Fathi in straight games before coming through a thrilling five-game battle with Hong Kong’s Yip Tsz Fung, but he had no answer to Meguid’s power and strength as the big man came through 11-8, 11-5, 11-4 after 40 minutes.
