Laura Massaro Speaks Exclusively to SquashXtra

Women’s World No.1 Laura Massaro has had a magnificent 2015/16 season, claiming two PSA World Series titles in addition to achieving a lifelong ambition of becoming only the third Englishwoman to rise to the summit of the world rankings after overtaking Egypt’s Raneem El Welily in January 2016.

However, less than 12 months ago, Massaro’s career was almost at its end after a punishing schedule and loss of form saw her step off court and hang up her racket for an extended absence.

Massaro sat down with SquashXtra, the official publication of the PSA World Tour, and spoke candidly about the year-long journey that took her from the brink of retirement to tour domination and a place at the top of the world rankings.

Massaro’s next destination is the 2016 Windy City Open presented by Guggenheim Partners & EquiTrust Life Insurance Company on Thursday February 25 where she will engage Malaysian icon Nicol David and El Welily as the battle for top spot intensifies once more. Vital points for the PSA Road to Dubai Standings, which Massaro currently leads, are also up for grabs.
