Tortola Classic SFs: Khan and Lovejoy to Contest Final

17 June 2023

Pakistan’s No.3 seed Muhammad Asim Khan and USA’s Spencer Lovejoy will contest the Carey Olson Tortola Classic, PSA Challenger 10 final after they defeated top seeds Andrew Douglas and Bernat Jaume, respectively, in their last four fixtures at the Tortola Sports Club.

World No.71 Khan will compete in his 14th PSA final after beating No.2 seed Douglas in a gripping 14-12, 4-11, 11-7, 4-11, 11-7 victory. He will now aim to win his eighth PSA title and his first since the QSF 2 in April of last year.

Meanwhile, World No.80 Lovejoy has advanced to his sixth PSA final after coming from behind to beat No.1 seed Jaume by a 5-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-2 scoreline.

Lovejoy showed off an impressive short game throughout the 51-minute contest and he will now look to win the second PSA title of his career – and his first since June 2019 – when he takes on Khan in the title decider.

The final of the Carey Olsen Tortola Classic will take place on Saturday June 17, with play getting under way at 15:00 (GMT-4). You can keep up to date with daily updates from the tournament on the PSA Challenger Tour’s Twitter and Facebook.
