Hollie Naughton Back to Career-Best World No.16

10 October 2022

Canada’s Hollie Naughton has returned to a career-best World No.16 ranking for the week commencing 10th October following her run to the semi-finals of the Oracle NetSuite Open in San Francisco.

The Canadian, who won a silver medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in the summer, looked in sharp form in the USA, with the 28-year-old overcoming Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold and Egypt’s Hana Ramadan before falling 2-0 to the USA’s World No.4 Amanda Sobhy in the semi-final.

Elsewhere, Farida Mohamed was the biggest mover within the top 20 as she leapfrogged Sivasangari Subramaniam, Tesni Evans and Naughton to move up to World No.15 after reaching the final of the Oracle NetSuite Open, where she too was beaten by Sobhy.

Within the top ten, the rankings remain unchanged, with Nouran Gohar enjoying a 45th week as at the game’s summit and Hania El Hammamy staying ahead of current World Champion Nour El Sherbini.

The biggest mover in the rankings was the USA’s 16-year-old Riya Navani, who climbed 229 places from World No.406 to World No.177 after making a wildcard appearance at the Oracle NetSuite Open.
