Heroes Open Begins in Poland

11 February 2015

The 2015 Squash Promotion Group & Heroes Open, PSA Challenger 5, makes its debut on the PSA World Tour on Friday February 13 with some intriguing looking matchups afoot at the Modelarnia Squash & Fitness Club in Bielsko-Biala, Poland.

Kristian Frost Olesen is seeded first for the tournament.

The Danish star has not won a PSA World Tour title since February last year at the Global Relocations Israel Open but did finish as runner-up in December at the Valencia Open. The World No.76 opens up his tournament against a qualifier.

19-year-old Richie Fallows is also among the forerunners for the event. The number two seed won his only PSA World Tour title to date in May of last year but three semi-final finishes in his last four events, including an appearance at the AJ Bell British Squash Grand Prix, has seen his world ranking rocket in recent months. Fallows finds himself up against Belgium Jan Van Den Herrewegen in the first round.

Number three seed Jan Koukal will also want to get in on the act. The 31-year-old from Czech Republic specialises in events in Central Europe and has 31 PSA World Tour titles to his name. He is up against wildcard Lukasz Stachowski for a place in the next round.

Sebastiaan Weenink is another one to watch out for. The Dutchman earned his first PSA World Tour title in November’s Investimax Winners Brussels Open and has shown steady improvement in the last year. Weenink is matched up with a qualifier as he looks to make it to the quarter-final stage.
