Order of play:

S. Subramaniam v H. El Hammamy

The women’s final will be up first on finals day as surprise finalist and giant killer Sivasangari Subramaniam takes on World No.2 Hania El Hammamy for the title.

The Malaysian overcame top seed and World No.1 Nour El Sherbini in round one, then backed that performance up with a won over World No.4 Nele Gilis in a brutal 94-minute clash, winning 11-9 in the fifth game. The World No.13 has been showcasing her impressive skill levels and will be hoping to score a second win over El Hammamy to lift her biggest title to date.

El Hammamy defeated fierce rival Nouran Gohar in yesterday’s semi-final and comes in as strong favourite to lift the trophy in today’s final. The Egyptian has four wins over Subramaniam, the latest of which coming earlier this season in El Hammamy’s successful run at the QTerminals Qatar Classic. The World No.2 will be determined to score a third win of the season to cement her position as World No.2.

P. Coll v M. Asal

New Zealand’s Paul Coll has tasted victory eight times on English soil, six of which coming in the capital. The World No.2 has been in great form of late and his win at the recent Optasia Championships made it four titles for the season, with a fifth up for grabs today again in London. The top seed defeated Wales’ Joel Makin in five games yesterday but will no doubt be fit and firing later today.

Mostafa Asal ended the amazing run of wildcard Declan James yesterday to book his place in the final. ‘The Raging Bull’ has only claimed one title this season, at the Florida Open. He will be determined to double his tally to close in on the world’s top three. Asal has been spending a lot of time in England recently as he continues to work with former World No.1 James Willstrop. The Englishman’s influence is starting to be seen in Asal’s game now as the Egyptian’s movement is far smoother, meaning less interaction with referees.

Asal holds a 7-5 lead over Coll in the head-to-head standings however the New Zealander has won the last two clashes between the two. Can Coll make it a hat-trick of wins to claim the Gold event title?
