Start Times

Georgina Kennedy v Tesni Murphy

The first semi final of the day pits England against Wales, with Georgina Kennedy and Tesni Murphy locking horns.

Despite being 19 places lower than her semi final opponent, Murphy has won two of the three previous meetings between the two. However Kennedy came out on top last time at the Bahl and Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup this year.

England No.1 Kennedy has had a faultless run to the semi finals, not dropping a single game so far after defeating Ainaa Amani and Fayrouz Aboelkheir in the previous rounds.

Murphy has also had an impressive route to the last four, dispatching Nardine Garas 3-0 before overcoming No.2 seed Tinne Gilis 3-2 in the quarter finals.

Joel Makin v Eain Yow Ng

The men’s top seed Joel Makin takes on Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng for a place in the final.

Welsh No.1 Makin has won all six of the previous encounters between the two, with the most recent victory coming at the Pittsburgh Open in 2023.

After beating Tom Walsh in round two, Makin had to fight through to the pain barrier yesterday in his entertaining quarter final match with Timothy Brownell to progress to the semi finals.

Meanwhile Yow has been solid so far on his way to the semi finals, winning his round two and quarter final matches 3-0 against Daniel Poleshchuk and Velavan Senthilkumar, respectively.

Nele Gilis v Salma Hany

World No.4 Nele Gilis is aiming to reach a fourth final this season, but World No.11 Salma Hany stands in her way in the second semi final in the women’s draw.

Gilis, who was runner up at the recent Optasia Championships, ended a run of six successive defeats on the World Tour to Hany at the El Gouna International last year.

The Belgian No.1 cruised her way into the last four of this event having seen off Torrie Malik and Malak Khafagy both in three games.

Hany, who came into this tournament off the back of tasting success at the Australian Open, has also yet to drop a game. The Egyptian beat Asia Harris and home favourite Saskia Beinhard.

Mohamed ElSherbini v Dimitri Steinmann

Mohamed ElSherbini against Dimitri Steinmann concludes the semi finals, with both players aiming to secure their first piece of silverware on the PSA World Tour.

ElSherbini, who’s been a runner up in two finals previously on the World Tour, boasts a 100 per cent record over Steinmann. Their last meeting came at the Squash on Fire Open 2023 – where ElSherbini was runner up to Victor Crouin.

The Egyptian came from behind to overcome Spencer Lovejoy in the second round before ending home hopes yesterday in the quarter finals by seeing off Raphael Kandra.

Steinmann has been in top form in Hamburg, notching two 3-0 victories in round two and the last eight. The Swiss No.2 defeated Rui Soares and Bernat Jaume.
