Ford Fells Green In Kent Open

Englishman Ben Ford pulled off the only upset during the opening round of qualification action at the 2015 Select Gaming Kent Open, PSA Challenger 10 event taking place in Maidstone, England, as he toppled sixth seed Joe Green to move one step closer to a main draw berth.

Despite taking the first game Green was the only seed to miss out on a spot in the qualification finals despite taking the first game as he struggled to match Ford’s attacking style of squash, eventually falling 5-11, 11-7, 11-7, 13-11.

Ford, who this month broke into the world’s top 200 for the first time since 2012, will meet Scotland’s Kevin Moran in the next round as the duo battle it out for a spot in the main draw.

Ford’s compatriot and number one seed Michael Harris will also participate in the final round of qualifying after he overcame Phil Nightingale with a 3-1 margin of victory. Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng, who eliminated Micah Franklin, will be his opponent in an exciting clash.

George Parker dismissed Sam Ellis whilst Ashley Davies defeated Jonny Powell to progress. Finland’s Jaakko Vähämaa and Portugal’s Rui Soares will be waiting for the pair in the next round.
