Farhan Mehboob Moves Past Khan in Pakistan

Qualifier Farhan Mehboob bridged a 45-place World Rankings gap to upset fellow Pakistani Danish Atlas Khan in the opening round of the CAS International Squash Championship, PSA M25 event.

The World No.113 dropped the first game to his opponent before storming back to record an unlikely 7-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-4 victory.

Mehboob will face top seed Omar Abdel Meguid in the quarter-final after the Egyptian scythed through Waqar Mehboob in his first round fixture.

Wildcard Israr Ahmed is also through to the next round after defeating Shahjahan Khan in straight games. World No.301 Ahmed, who is ranked 199 places below his opponent in the World Rankings, will meet Pakistani No.1 Nasir Iqbal in the last eight after he dispatched Khawaja Adil Maqbool.

Meanwhile, number two seed Mohamed Abouelghar secured his place in the quarter-final with a straightforward 3-0 triumph against Kashif Asif. His reward is a next round clash with Shehab Essam who beat New Zealand’s Lance Beddoes in five games.

Karim Ali Fathi and Tayyab Aslam will line up against each other in the other quarter-final tie after respective victories over Aqeel Rehman and Muhammad Saqif Yousaf.
