Elias to Meet Rodriguez in PanAm Games Final

18-year-old Diego Elias will have the chance to win Peru’s first ever medal in the squash event when he contests the final of the 2015 Pan American Games with Colombia’s Miguel Angel Rodriguez in the Mens Singles event.

The teenage star, who acted as a flag bearer for his country, defeated Jaime Pinto in the second round before seeing off Christopher Gordon in the quarter-final. A semi-final fixture against Cesar Salazar was cut short by an injury to the Mexican which ensured Elias’s progress to the final.

World No.4 Rodriguez meanwhile blitzed past Max Camiruaga, Leandro Romiglio and Canada’s Shaun Delierre to reach the showpiece event where he will fight to win the gold medal for a second time after his 2011 success.

In the Women’s Singles, an all-United States final is on the horizon after Olivia Blatchford and Amanda Sobhy made it to the final.

Blatchford progressed after she stunned 2011 gold medalist Samantha Teran in their semi-final match-up. The 22-year-old, who saw off Tatiana Damasio Borges in round one, was in fine form throughout the encounter and soared to a 3-1 triumph.

Top seed Sobhy faced off against Samantha Cornett in her semi-final and fought to the victory in four games against the 2011 runner-up to secure her place in a highly-anticipated final.
