The Abierto Colombiano de Squash Club El Nogal, PSA M50 & W15 main draws begin today with some of the world’s greatest players taking part in two deadly fields in Bogota, Colombia.

The favourite for the event is three-time winner Miguel Angel Rodriguez who will be hoping to carry on where he left off after a stunning 2014/15 season.

The ‘Colombian Cannonball’ became a real fan favourite last season, winning his biggest ever PSA World Tour title at the Suburban Collection Motor City Open and rising up to his current career-high World No.4 spot.

Rodriguez is renowned for his high-octane displays and will no doubt produce a typically energetic performance against Shaun Le Roux in the opening round as he looks to get his season off to a good start.

Second seed Peter Barker is on the hunt for his first PSA World Tour title of 2015 and is another one of the eye-catching names that the draw has in store.

The experienced 31-year-old, who actually defeated Rodriguez in the final last time he won a title at the Fiera Properties Bluenose Squash Classic last year, is up against Tsz Fung Yip for a place in the quarter-final.

World No.12 Borja Golan will be hoping to end his two year wait for a PSA World Tour title and is more than capable of proving himself a force to be reckoned with in the latter stages if he performs to his true potential.

The Spanish No.1 is yet to make it past the quarter-final of an event so far this year but can build up some momentum when he faces Karim El Hammamy in round one.

Last year’s runner-up Victoria Lust is the number one seed in the Women’s event as she bids to add to the two titles that she has won so far in her career.

After a disappointing 2014/15 season that saw her earn just one title, the World No.22 will be hoping to get this season off to the perfect start and has received a bye in the opening round, giving her an extra day to prepare which could prove vital.

Mexico’s Samantha Teran is fresh off the back of two semi-final finishes at the Pan American Games over the summer and won this event last year with victory over Lust.

She also receives a bye into the next round and will begin the defence of her title against either Thaisa Serafini or Juliana Pereira in the quarter-final.
