Order of Play (all times are local)

Nour El Sherbini v Nouran Gohar

In a final clash that the squash world has become all too familiar with over recent seasons, World No.1 Nour El Sherbini takes on reigning World Champion Nouran Gohar for a chance to win the prestigious first diamond tournament.

El Sherbini earned her spot in the final with some key performances, battling back from 2-0 down to take down Egyptian rising star Amina Orfi in round three. The ‘Warrior Princess’ looked much improved in her quarter-final encounter with Belgium’s Tinne Gilis, progressing in three games. Her semi-final saw a brutal 86-minute clash with World No.3 Hania El Hammamy, who tested her compatriot in a five-game thriller, but El Sherbini was ultimately victorious.

On the other side of the draw, Nouran Gohar has had a far smoother journey to the final, as she continued the electrifying form with which she ended the 2023/24 season. Gohar has yet to drop a game in the tournament, collecting 3-0 wins over Barb Sameh, Amanda Sobhy, Rowan Elaraby and Nada Abbas.

Ali Farag v Mostafa Asal

Tonight’s Men’s match sees a repeat of the cut-short final of last season’s PSA World Tour Finals, and is sure to see exciting clash between the two Egyptian heavyweights.

After an impressive second-round win over Welsh No.1 Joel Makin, Asal’s third-round and quarter-final clashes saw retirements from Youssef Soliman and Mohamed ElShorbagy respectively, and so the ‘Raging Bull’ has seen less game time than would be expected this tournament. However, Asal looked more than warmed up in his semi-final battle with Marwan ElShorbagy, taking his place in the final after 40 minutes with a 3-0 win, conceding just 10 points in the match, and only one in the third game.

World No.1 Farag enjoyed record-breaking last season on the PSA Squash Tour and has looked to continue his dominance into the 2024/25 season as he accumulated confident victories in Cairo. After a slow start Nicolas Mueller in round three, Farag has barely put a foot wrong, claiming straight game victories over Curtis Malik and Mazen Hesham either side of this third-round clash before defeating reigning World Champion Diego Elias in similar fashon.
