Canadian Open 2024 – Day One: How to Watch Live

3 March 2024

The Canadian Men’s Open 2024 Presented by AirSprint Private Aviation gets underway today with eight matches taking place on the show court at the Bow Valley Athletic Club. The 16 players will be battling for spots in round two to face the top eight seeds.

Proceedings begin at 12:00 (GMT-7) as Egypt’s Mazen Gamal takes on Portugal’s Rui Soares. Despite the Egyptian having a won two of their three encounters, Soares took the spoils from their most recent clash in November where he came back from 2-1 down to win with two consecutive 11-4 games.

The only player competing on home soil on the opening day will be wildcard Connor Turk as he faces Japan No.1 Ryunosuke Tsukue. The event marks Turk’s second World Tour event, after being the wildcard in last year’s Canadian Open. Tsukue is playing his third consecutive North American tournament, and will be looking to secure his first win of his stint in the New World before travelling to London for the Optasia Championships.

In an exciting final match of the day, India’s Abhay Singh comes off the back of winning Toronto’s Goodfellow Classic to play England’s Ben Smith. The Englishman comes into the match after reaching round two at Squash on Fire with a strong performance to beat Mexico’s Leonel Cardenas 3-1 in the first round.

Play starts at 12:00 (GMT-7) with action available to watch live on SQUASHTV.
