Azman Axes Shadira from Women’s Malaysian Tour

Sixth seed Aika Azman came up with a splendid display in the first round of the Malaysian Tour Squash VII, PSA W5 tournament to dispatch compatriot Noor Shadira in a 3-0 victory.

Azman, who had gone out in the opening round in all of her PSA World Tour appearances so far in 2015, was in fine fettle and performed consistently to wear her opponent down and seize control of the encounter to record an 11-9, 11-2, 11-9 victory.

She will face Coline Aumard in the quarter-final after the Frenchwoman received a bye to the next round.

Teh Min Jie secured her quarter-final berth after a 3-1 triumph over Aifa Azman. The two traded blows in the opening three games but Min Jie pulled away in the fourth to secure the result. Ooi Kah Yan will meet her in the next round after she claimed a walkover.

Hana Ramadan benefitted from an injury to Aisyah Munirah to move on to the next round with Chan Yiwen her opponent there after the number seven seed received a walkover in response to the knock that Nur Aliah Anis picked up.

Elsewhere, Rachel Arnold and Zulhijjah Binti Azan will do battle for a place in the semi-final after Arnold received a bye and Binti Azan eased past Lai Wen Li with a straight games victory.
