Alves and Crouin Named PSA Players of the Month for February

2 March 2021

French duo Melissa Alves and Victor Crouin have been named the PSA Players of the Month for February following their title wins on the PSA Challenger Tour.

Alves picked up her second successive PSA title at the Le Havre PSA Challenger 2021 in France when she defeated compatriot Marie Stephan in straight-games, a feat that allowed her to progress through the entire event without dropping a game.

That win takes Alves up to seven PSA title out of nine finals and her second in a row following on from her win in Paris at the PSA Squash95 Paris event in January, where she defeated Czech Republic’s Anna Serme in the final.

Those wins have seen the Frenchwoman consolidate her place at No.31 in the world – her highest World Ranking to date.

Crouin, meanwhile, scooped two titles last month to make it three in a row for the World No.41 on the PSA Challenger Tour.

Crouin’s compatriot Lucas Serme has been the unlucky receiver of Crouin’s strong run, with the 21-year-old beating Serme in all three finals. February’s wins came in his home country at the Le Reve Nancy and Cognac Open.

Other notable performers in February include former World No.1 Rachael Grinham who won her 36th PSA title after reigning victorious at the Australian Open in Bega. Pakistan’s Madina Zafar won her second title in a row at the BISL 4 Southern Punjab International.

On the men’s tour, Rhys Dowling upset the seedings to win his second PSA title following his win over compatriot and top seed Joseph White at the Australian Open. Another upset to the seedings came at the DSQV Sportwerk Challenger and BISL 4 Southern Punjab International as Germany’s Valentin Rapp and Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal saw off the competition to win the respective titles.
