Alexander and Kempsell to Meet in New South Wales Open Final

Zac Alexander and Douglas Kempsell will face off in the final of the New South Wales Open, PSA M5 event after wins over Rhys Dowling and Matthew Hopkin, respectively.

Second seed Alexander performed superbly in his matchup with Dowling and shot into an early lead which his opponent couldn’t recover from to secure an 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 victory.

Kempsell also started magnificently in his fixture, storming to an 11-2 win in the opening game before Hopkin bounced back to tie the game up in the second.

After another one-sided game in Kempsell’s favour, the fourth proved to be the closest of the lot with a number of high-octane rallies setting the scene for an absorbing contest. Kempsell held his nerve to see the match out in a 14-12 tie-break to reach his second final in his last three appearances.
