Aitken wins Delaware Open, her third title in four tournaments

28 January 2019

There were two tournaments on the PSA Challenger Tour this weekend, with the No.3 seeds taking glory in both Chattanooga and Delaware.

In Delaware, Lisa Aitken came from behind in the final to win her third title in her last four tournaments.

Just four days after being knocked out of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, Lisa Aitken started her winning campaign at the Delaware Open.

She went on to defeat Liu Tsz-Ling, who had also been knocked out in the last 32 in New York, in the final.

The Scot, ranked No.54 in the world, was 2-0 down in the final, but recovered to win the final three games and take home the title.

The Scot will look for glory again this weekend, as she takes part in the Cleveland Classic.

Over in Chattanooga, Aditya Jagtap secured his third title in his last eight events, after taking home the crown at the Bourbon Trail Event No.2.

The Indian came from 2-1 behind in the final, against Canadian Andrew Schnell, to turn the match around and win 3-2 in just over an hour.

To reach the final, Jagtap had to beat three Englishmen, two of whom were seeded in the tournament.

Schnell’s route to the final included beating the winner of the Trail Event No.1 back at the start of the month, Faraz Khan.

Jagtap will return to Chattanooga for the third Trail Event in mid-February, where he will look to secure the title once more.
