Miko Aijanen is through to his first ever PSA World Tour main draw after a superb victory over top qualifying seed David Haley in the final qualifying round of the Suez Helsinki Summer Challenger, PSA M5 tournament.

Aijanen, who scored a notable scalp over Pascal Gomez in the previous round, took the first game after a confident start but Haley levelled things up after improving in the second. From there, spectators could have been forgiven for thinking that Haley would move on to take the match but it wasn’t to be as Aijanen bridged a 144 place gap in the World Rankings to secure an 11-4, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6 triumph to achieve a main draw berth.

Jan Koukal will be Aijanen’s opponent in the main draw’s opening round with the Czech second seed bound to be wary of the improving Aijanen.

Jami Aijanen, a relation to Miko, soared through to the main draw after overcoming Miles Jenkins. With the two locked at 1-1, Jami Aijanen found another gear and recorded a 3-1 victory to move on to the main draw where he will meet Manuel Wanner.

Emyr Evans and Saadeldin Abouaish will also take part in the main draw action after the pair rose to victories over Nicolas Talbott and Kristian Rautiainen, respectively.

Adrian Ostbye lies in wait for Evans in the next round while Saadeldin Abouaish faces off with Ahmed Effat Ashoush.
