2015 World Junior Championships Draw Released

2 July 2015

#PSAWorldTour

The draw for the 2015 World Junior Individual Squash Championships has been confirmed with precocious Peruvian Diego Elias set to head a strong field in the Men’s tournament when the event begins on Sunday July 26 at the Squashtime Centre in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Elias, who powered past Omar El Atmas in last year’s final, is looking to retain his title and has the distinction of being named the top seed this time around in the 88-man tournament. Tayyab Aslam reached the quarter-final last year before losing to Atmas but he is one of the favourites in Eindhoven as the Pakistani takes the number two seed spot.

Egypt’s All-Africa Junior Champion Amr Arafa is also involved in the draw and a mouth-watering potential semi-final clash against Elias could lie in wait for Arafa.

Defending Champion Habiba Mohamed leads the Women’s draw as she bids to keep the title in Egyptian hands for the fifth year in a row. Another Egyptian, Nouran Gohar, will be out for revenge after losing to Mohamed in last year’s final and the Cairo-based 17-year-old is seeded second for the event.

Sabrina Sobhy, whose sister Amanda was the last non-Egyptian to lift the crown, also appears in the draw and will look to go further than the quarter-final stage where she has finished the last two years.

The World Junior Individual Championships brings together over 170 players from 34 nations and takes place from Sunday July 26 – Thursday July 30.
