World Champions Elias And Gohar Win PSA World Tour Players Of The Month For May

World champions Diego Elias and Nouran Gohar have been named the PSA World Tour Players of the Month for May.

Gohar claimed the award with 51% of the votes in a poll on the PSA World Tour’s Instagram page, beating Olivia Weaver, Gina Kennedy and Fayrouz Aboelkheir to the award.

The World No.2 was crowned World champion for the first time in her career in May, where she defeated the likes of World No.3 Hania El Hammamy and seven-time World champion Nour El Sherbini to take the title.

In the men’s poll, Elias also comfortably claimed the majority of the votes with 74%, with Tarek Momen, Joel Makin and Greg Lobban the other nominees.

May also brought Elias’ maiden World crown, as he became the first South American to lift the title. The Peruvian was in impressive form all week in Cairo, where he downed defending champion Ali Farag in the semi finals before dispatching Mostafa Asal in the final.
