World Champion Farag Up to World No.3 in Latest PSA World Rankings

22 May 2023

Egypt’s Ali Farag is back up to World No.3 after following up his World Championship title with the Manchester Open title.

The 31-year-old was put through stern tests at the National Squash Centre, coming from behind in every match of the tournament to beat Iker Pajares Bernabeu, Patrick Rooney, defending champion Joel Makin and – in a replay of the World Championship final earlier this month – Karim Abdel Gawad.

That run has seen him leapfrog former World No.1 Mohamed ElShorbagy.

Following his exploits in Manchester, North West native Rooney is up three places to 24.

Elsewhere, USA’s Todd Harrity climbs one place to World No.44, Hungary’s Balazs Farkas is up one place to World No.49 and Hong Kong’s Henry Leung has moved back into the top 50 as he moved up one place to World No.50.

The biggest mover in the men’s rankings was Paraguay’s Damian Casarino, who jumped 78 places in the rankings to World No.440 after qualifying for the PSA Challenger Tour 10 Paraguay Open.
