Watch: Diego Elias on What it Would Mean to go World No.1

28 February 2023

No player from South America has ever reached World No.1 in squash. Could Diego Elias be about to change that?

If results go Elias’ way at the upcoming Black Ball Squash Open, the Peruvian could go top of the world rankings from Monday 13 March.

In an interview with SQUASHTV, Elias talks about his career so far, the role of Miguel Rodriguez in opening the door for South American players, and what it would mean for Elias, Peru and an entire continent if he were to reach the pinnacle of the rankings.

Diego Elias will become the new World No.1 if he wins the Black Ball Open and current World No.1 Mostafa Asal fails to reach the final.
