Watanabe Reaches Career-High Ranking of No.14

Japan’s Satomi Watanabe has risen two places to reach a career-high ranking of No.14 after the release of this week’s PSA Women’s World Rankings.

Here’s our look at the most notable movers of the week, as of Monday April 8.

Satomi Watanabe

Previous Ranking: No.16

New Ranking: No.14

This week has seen the points for the GillenMarkets London Squash Classic go onto player’s rankings and Watanabe has seen her ranking rise after reaching the last 16 at Alexandra Palace, where she fell to No.2 seed Hania El Hammamy.

The 25-year-old from Yokohama will next line up at the El Gouna International Squash Open, which begins on Friday April 19.

Tesni Murphy

Previous Ranking: No.25

New Ranking: No.21

Wales’ Tesni Murphy has moved up four spots to achieve her highest ranking since January.

The 31-year-old went down to World No.1 Nour El Sherbini in the last 16 of the London Classic, before reaching the semi-finals of the German Open – Presented by Sportwerk, where she lost out to eventual winner Georgina Kennedy.

Katie Malliff

Previous Ranking: No.39

New Ranking: No.38

England’s Katie Malliff records her highest ranking since February after she reached the last 16 of the London Classic, where she exited following a defeat to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam, who went on to win the event in stunning style.

Cindy Merlo

Previous Ranking: No.55

New Ranking: No.54

Switzerland’s Cindy Merlo moves up a place to No.54 after recording a last 16 finish at the German Open, losing to home player Saskia Beinhard in straight games.
