Watanabe & Orfi Move To Career-High Rankings in Latest Standings

13 November 2023

Japanese No.1 Satomi Watanabe and Egypt’s teenage sensation Amina Orfi have both moved to career-high rankings in the latest PSA World Rankings.

16-year-old Orfi, who reached the Ace Malaysia Squash Cup quarter-finals before losing out to Nour El Tayeb last week, has overtaken Tesni Evans and Farida Mohamed to sit at World No.18.

Meanwhile Watanabe, who became the first Japanese player to be ranked in the world’s top 20 back in April, has moved up one spot to World No.16 after a strong start to the season.

Elsewhere, Rowan Elaraby has risen one position to sit in the World No.14 ranking spot alongside American Sabrina Sobhy, while Nada Abbas has also climbed up one place to World No.17.

Ace Malaysia Squash Cup winner El Tayeb has closed the gap to World No.5 Amanda Sobhy but remains as World No.6, with the rest of the top ten players also remaining unmoved.

Welsh No.1 Evans, who has been out injured since the British Nationals in August, has dropped down to World No.20.

Outside of the top 20, Ace Malaysia Cup finalist Rachel Arnold has risen 11 spots to World No.28, while Lucy Turmel has moved up to to 25th in the world after capturing the Monte Carlo Classic title last week.
