Crouin became the new French No.1 during the tournament and that milestone was crowned with a victory over Marwan ElShorbagy and sealing the title.

Hania Hammamy winning the Hong Kong Open

Hania El Hammamy earned her maiden Hong Kong Open title having got the better of seven-time World Champion Nour El Sherbini in arguably one of the matches of the season.

The Egyptian defeated her compatriot 3-2: 15-13, 9-11, 11-3, 8-11, 11-9 in an epic 89-minute battle to clinch her second title of the season.

Ali Farag winning his first British Open

Ali Farag’s scintillating form was capped with his first-ever British Open title, seeing off newly-crowned World No.1 Diego Elias 3-1.

Observing Ramadan throughout, Farag beat the likes of former World Champion Tarek Momen and Mazen Hesham before toppling Elias in the final in Birmingham to add another trophy to his impressive haul.

Nour El Sherbini winning her seventh World Championship

Nour El Sherbini notched his fifth successive World Championship crown, which was her seventh in total having beat Nouran Gohar in Chicago.

The Warrior Princess is now only one World Championships triumph away from equalling Nicol David’s record following her Stateside success.

Ali Farag winning his fourth World Championships

Like Nour El Sherbini, Ali Farag successfully defended his World Championship in Chicago in what is the fourth time he’s lifted the trophy.

Farag, who became only the second Egyptian to win four World titles after Amr Shabana, overcame his fellow countryman Karim Abdel Gawad for the title.

Sabrina Sobhy beating Hania El Hammamy at US Open

Sabrina Sobhy reached the quarter-finals of a Platinum event for the first time when she stunned World No.3 Hania El Hammamy at the U.S. Open.

It was the biggest triumph of the American’s career to date, as Sobhy beat the Egyptian 3-1: 11-8, 13-15, 11-7, 11-9.

Diego Elias becomes first South American World No.1

Diego Elias made history when he became the first-ever South American to top the World Rankings.

The Peruvian ascended to No.1 during the British Open in April, in which he lost out to Ali Farag in the final.

Nele Gilis reaches her first Platinum final

History was made at the El Gouna International when Nele Gilis became the first Belgian to reach a Platinum level final.

Gilis shocked the Egyptian crowd as she downed World Champion Nour El Sherbini in straight games for a place in the decider.

Karim Abdel Gawad reaching the World Championships final

Seven months after being in a wheelchair, Karim Abdel Gawad completed a remarkable return from injury by earning a place in the World Championships final.

Gawad, who lifted the World title in 2016, was sidelined for 10 months with a plantar fasciitis issue but, on his return, the Egyptian sensationally edged past Mohamed ElShorbagy to book his place in the final.

Nouran Gohar wins longest women’s match ever

Nouran Gohar and Hania El Hammamy rewrote history when they played out the longest women’s match in history at the World Tour Finals.

And it was Gohar who triumphed in the 130-minute encounter, prevailing 3-2: 10-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 12-10.
