Oracle NetSuite Open: Preview & How To Watch Live

29 September 2022

The first Stateside event of the 2022-2023 PSA World Tour season takes place this week, with the Oracle NetSuite Open coming from San Francisco, USA. The action will be played across four venues from September 30 – October 4.

This year’s event will be a Silver level competition, with the glass court being moved from its traditional home at Embarcadero Plaza, to a new venue. For 2022, the glass court will be housed at Pier 70 Building 12, and it will see play from the second round onwards.

World No.4 and defending champion Amanda Sobhy will be the top seed for the women’s event, and she will be aiming to become the first female three-time winner of the tournament.

New Zealand’s Joelle King will make her return from injury this week in San Francisco, participating for the first time since winning two Gold Medals at the Commonwealth Games in the summer. She will be the No.2 seed, with Egypt’s Farida Mohamed and Canadian No.1 Hollie Naughton in close contention.

Along with the US No.1, there will be four more Americans in the women’s draw on home soil. Younger sister Sabrina, Olivia Clyne and wildcard Riya Navani will make up the American contingent for the Silver level competition.

Four of the world’s top ten will be in action in the men’s event, with Peruvian Diego Elias, England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy and the Egyptian duo of Mazen Hesham and Marwan ElShorbagy all taking part in San Francisco.

After wins at the Oracle NetSuite Open in 2017 and 2019, the Englishman will be aiming to secure a third title in San Francisco, and join Frenchman Gregory Gaultier as the only man to achieve that feat in the tournament’s history.

Shahjahan Khan will be the leading American in the draw, with the home favourite joining India’s Saurav Ghosal, Colombian Miguel Rodriguez and Egypt’s Youssef Soliman in making up the rest of the top eight seeds. Faraz Khan and wildcard Zane Patel, who will feature for the first time on Tour, will be the other home hopes in action this week.

The action gets underway across three venues on Friday, September 30. The University Club, the Olympic Club and Squash Zone will all host matches on the opening day, with the glass court at Pier 70 Building 12 coming into action on day two of the competition.

SQUASHTV will be the place to watch all the action live from the glass court in San Francisco, while you can keep up to date with live scores from the tournament here.
