New Zealand Open 2023 – Quarter-Finals: Preview & How to Watch Live

7 December 2023

The quarter-finals of the Barfoot & Thompson/Lucino Vanities New Zealand Open 2023 get underway today, with eight matches across the two draws coming your way from the Mercury Arena in Tauranga.

Day four of the PSA World Tour Silver event starts at 13:00 (GMT+13), with every second of action available to watch live on SQUASHTV.

In the women’s draw, three Hong Kong players will be looking to progress to the last four, with Ka Yi Lee starting off the day against No.4 seed Aifa Azman, and compatriots Tsz-Wing Tong and Tomato Ho squaring off against No.2 seed Tinne Gilis and No.3 seed Tesni Evans, respectively.

Elsewhere, No.1 seed Nele Gilis will look to extend her impressive recent run of form, which saw her capture the Singapore Open title and reach the Hong Kong Open semi-finals last week, when taking on England’s Lucy Beecroft for a spot in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, men’s No.3 seed Joel Makin, who is competing in his first event since returning from injury, starts action from the Lucino Vanities New Zealand Open draw when taking on Frenchman Baptiste Masotti at 13:45. English duo Marwan ElShorbagy and Patrick Rooney will contest the second men’s match of the afternoon, while Hong Kong Open champion Paul Coll will look to extend his recent winning run against No.6 seed Auguste Dussourd.

An all-French clash will finish the day’s play, with No.4 seed Victor Crouin and No.8 seed Gregoire Marche set to take to the court to battle for a spot in the last four.
