Motor City Open Final: The Stats & How To Watch Live

4 February 2024

Diego Elias and Paul Coll go head-to-head tonight in the Motor City Open final and squash fans can watch all the action from the Birmingham Athletic Club in Detroit LIVE on SQUASHTV from 17:00 (GMT-5).

Here’s the Order of Play for tonight

(All times are local GMT-5)

Diego Elias v Paul Coll

It will be a meeting of the top two seeds tonight in Detroit as No.1 seed Diego Elias, from Peru, takes on No.2 seed Paul Coll, from New Zealand, for the 14th time on the PSA Tour.

There’s generally been little to separate the two when they clash on the professional squash circuit. Coll holds a narrow lead of 7-6 in their head-to-head record after a pair of victories at the U.S. Open presented by TRUIST and the TTI Milwaukee Hong Kong Squash Open at the end of 2023.

Elias’s last win over Coll came in the semi-finals of last year’s British Open final and the last four of events is typically where the pair come to blows, with seven of their 13 previous matches coming at that stage of a tournament.

Tonight’s title decider will be only the second time the two have met in a PSA final, with the only previous occasion seeing Elias topple Coll in the 2021 Qatar Classic final to lift his first Platinum title.

Elias and Coll have been in a class of their own at this event, with both players winning all three of their matches by 3-0 scorelines.

Coll is looking to claim his fourth title of the season after wins at the aforementioned U.S. Open and Hong Kong Open, as well as the Lucino Vanities New Zealand Men’s Open.

Elias is without a title since the Pittsburgh Open 12 months ago, though he is the reigning champion here in Detroit after beating Egypt’s Mazen Hesham in last year’s title decider.

A win for Coll would see him close the points gap to Elias in the rankings as he plots to overthrow the World No.2, while the Peruvian must win to retain his points from last year and keep up the pressure on World No.1 Ali Farag.

It promises to be a cracker, so make sure you tune in to SQUASHTV tonight to watch the pair go head-to-head.
