Windsor Cup: Momen Captures First PSA Title of New Season

20 August 2023

World No.9 Tarek Momen has captured the first title of the 2023-24 PSA World Tour season after he overcame fellow Egyptian Youssef Soliman 11-8, 11-5, 3-11, 8-11, 11-7 in the final of the Windsor Cup.

Momen was the heavy favourite coming into the match having won all seven of the pair’s previous meetings on the PSA Tour, while neither player had dropped a game leading into the final at the Devonshire Mall.

35-year-old Momen started on the front foot, showcasing his delicate touch and speed around court to take a two-game lead.

A quick-fire third game went the way of Soliman though as he dug in his heels and the tenacious World No.12 went on to collect the fourth game too.

Despite the momentum being with Soliman, Momen used his years of experience to good use and held his nerve to emerge victorious from the deciding game, winning his ninth PSA title and his first since 2020.
